as promised, i have (finally) found the list i was speaking on.

released by ninan smart, the 7 demensions
to/of (a) religion are as follows:

1) practical/ritual -- behaviors, actions and rituals of an (x)

2) experiential/emotional -- feelings
associated through the expressions of
(afore-mentioned) rituals

3) narrative/mythic -- the telling of stories
associated with (x)

4) doctrinal/philosophical -- systematic
teachings (these are more straightforward
instead of the previous stories) of (x)

5) ethical/legal -- how you act or treat others because of (x)

6) institutional -- collective of (x)

7) produces art -- buildings, icons, etc associated strictly with (x)

now this is all well and good. but i do not
agree with this description.
if we were to sample each category, we can
easily see how many non-religious things
fit neatly in the package:

NATIONALISM
1) pledge of alligience
2) american pride
3) george washington and the cherry tree
4) freedom/equality
5) legal doctrine for behavior(s)
6) schools, buildings
7) washington memorial
